The Newell Way
Maths
11+ Maths often includes material that is more advanced than what is covered in Year 5 at school. A solid understanding of foundational maths topics is essential before tackling 11+ material, as is knowing your multiplication tables perfectly!
English
Mainly consisting of comprehension and vocabulary, some schools will test this as English, whereas others will incorporate it into Verbal Reasoning.
Reading is essential to helping expand your vocabulary!
Non-Verbal Reasoning
Non-Verbal Reasoning involves tasks centred on shapes and puzzle-like questions intended to assess cognitive abilities and logical thinking skills, and may include spatial reasoning.
Verbal Reasoning
Verbal Reasoning includes a variety of question types, such as those based on codes, words and mathematical concepts, and often involves solving riddles and logic-based questions.
